Have you ever been in a situation where you ‘ve felt like – “ah, this photo would look a lot better if this was in a different color”? I sure have – like when I was editing the photo pack for Creative Convex a couple of months ago. I had clicked this lovely photo of a dreamy, pink colored fabric with a ribbon bow. The picture was beautiful and I was excited to share it, but the photo lacked something; it looked a bit dull and did not represent the colors in the true sense. The color of the fabric was looking beautiful in real life, but the color in the photo did not have much contrast which left the photo looking a bit “blah”.

So as usual, I resorted to Photoshop for help. I used the Hue and Saturation tool in Photoshop to edit the photo in a way that changed the colors to look more true and closer to real life. Here’s what the before and after photos looked like with the editing:

Step 3 : In this particular photo, I want to change the color of the fabric to represent its true color. So based on your requirements, start changing the values of the hue slider. And voila! you can see the colors in your photo change. Continue to do it until you feel like the color looks correct and closer to real life. You can also do the same with the saturation slider if you want to make the colors stronger or paler. Make sure not to go too overboard with the color changes . It is a lot of fun to play around with the hue tool, but make sure that the effect doesn’t start looking unreal and fake.
