Why Photos are important for your business?

Create brand recognition: Have you noticed while scrolling on Pinterest, you are instantly able to recognize a brand just because of the style of their photos and visuals. Its sub conscious, but by using powerful and consistent photos, the brand has made its place in your mind. This is because photos are more memorable than text. People who see your photos are more likely to remember your brand than people who just read text about your brand. This is because the brain processes visuals 60,000 times faster than text. By creating brand awareness, not only do more people find out about your business but also when your customer is ready to buy, you are the first brand that pops into their mind.

Convey your message to your audience easily and quickly: They say that a photo can speak a 1000 words. Have you experienced how looking at photos can make you incredibly happy or bring tears to your eyes? Great photos evoke emotion and prompt your audience to take action. Its a lot easier, quicker and powerful to convey the message of your brand through photos than to put it across through words. Here are some Instagram shots from Starbucks. I don’t know about you, but that sure makes me wanna go grab a cup of Starbucks right now!

Market your business and increase sales: People buy from brands that they trust. Building trust with your audience is super important for any business and good photography can help you build that incredible trust easily. In the last two months, I ‘ve had 4 clients book my design services because of my photography. Out of curiosity when I asked them how they found me, they replied saying ” I loved your photo packs and just by the quality of your photos, I knew that you would do a great job in building a great visual identity for my brand”. Wow, I am blown away!

How To use Photos that suit your brand:

Use images that attract your target audience: When you are choosing photos for your brand, make sure to align them with your target audience. What kind of pictures will appeal the most to your target audience based on their location, gender, age and interests? For example, if your target audience is mostly women between the ages 20 – 30 who are interested fashion, you might want to use images that have a feminine theme and are attractive to women of that age. For example, here is a snapshot of the Instagram of Lulu Lemon. Lulu Lemon aims to encourage fitness and a healthy lifestyle young men and women and you can see that reflect in their images.

Use images that are consistent with your brand identity: To get maximum results from your visual marketing campaigns, its very important to keep a cohesive and consistent brand identity throughout. This applies to the images that you use for your business as well.make sure to use a  consistent theme for images, whether you are using them as a background or in stand alone posts. Keep the composition and editing of your images consistent. I love how Jen from Jen Carrington keeps her visuals consistent with a background image and a unique text style, I can spot a photo from her from a mile away.

Integrate brand identity elements into your photos: If you look at the images of any popular brand, you’ll see that they use the same colors again and again—in their logo, in their text, even in their images. Its a great idea to integrate your brand colors into your photos in the form of props and backgrounds. If you are using text overlays in your photo, make sure to use the same typefaces from your brand identity to increase brand recognition. I also think its a great idea to include your brand logo as a watermark on your photos to increase brand recognition.

5 Ways to Use Photography To grow your brand

Blog Post graphics: In the last three months, the traffic to my website has literally grown 5X because of Pinterest. Because of the photos in my blog post graphics, people recognize and share my content on social media. By using attractive photography in your blog post graphics, you can increase your content reach on visual content marketing platforms like Pinterest, Bloglovin’ and Instagram.

Sales pages: One of the best ways to convey the message behind your services and products is by using photos on your sales page. By using pictures that enable the user to imagine him or her using the product/ service will help them decide if your product is the right fit for them. Photos also help users understand features about your product or service that may be otherwise difficult to understand. Also studies show that a claim with an image is more believable than a claim without an image. So let’s say you are using client testimonials on your sales page, you can make them more believable by using photos of your clients beside the testimonials! Dang, so true!
Social media marketing: Did you know that tweets with images got 150% more retweets than plain text tweets? (Source: Buffer Blog Also Facebook posts with images see 2.3X more engagement than those without images. Wow! I love the way my friend, Lauren from Elle & Company uses graphics for her quote tweets, they sure do get a lot of engagement!

Product photography: When Airbnb first started in New York, they went door-to-door taking professional photographs of as many listings as possible, and this doubled their revenue. It is surprising, but apparently when it comes to deciding whether to buy a product or not, 67% of the customers value the quality of the image more than reviews, product-specific description and long-descriptions. So if you have a product, make sure to include high quality pictures of it in the information.

On your website: You can interleave the text on your website with visuals that tell the story of what you do, how you do it and why you do it. This will help your audience connect with you as well as your brand at a more personal level. And like I said before, when they are ready to buy, yours will be the first brand that will come to their mind!

I can assure you that good photography can take your blog and business to the next level. Make sure to check back on Tuesday to find out all the details about the Styled Brand Photography program. Click below to be notified as soon as it launches!
