If you are an active part of the creative community, you have most definitely heard of Skillshare classes. Developing skills outside of your business or job can be really refreshing, relaxing and can be a great for your creativity as well. As much as I love writing designing brands, writing code during the day, I love to unwind and spend my evenings practicing calligraphy or splashing some watercolor paints here and there. Last year, when I was at the beginning stages of my business, I had a lot of time to learn and explore new creative skills and so I bought a subscription to Skillshare.
Personally for me, as a designer and blogger, taking classes on Skillshare has not only been rejuvenating but has also helped me hone my skills and better my art. I have taken multiple classes during this past year and here are the 5 Skillshare classes that I absolutely loved and would recommend for you:
If you are interested in learning calligraphy, this is a great class to get started with the basics. Starting from composing an alphabet to developing your own style, the very talented calligrapher, Molly Jacques teaches everything step by step in this crash course.
Have you ever thought about creating patterns for fabrics, wallpapers, stationery etc.? If yes, you will love this class by Elizabeth Olwen, a surface pattern designer from Canada as she takes us through creating repeating patterns using Adobe Illustrator.
As a kid I always loved playing with watercolors - not for painting, but playing pranks. Now as an adult, the love still continues but I use it for it is meant for - painting. You 'll love this waterbrush lettering class from Teela Cunnigham that combines both brush lettering and watercolors.
Photoshop is a powerful tool used by everyone from professional photographers to graphic designers to bloggers. If working with Photoshop seems intimidating to you, this class by Meg Lewis covers the fundamentals of photoshop thereby making you comfortable to work with the tool quick and easy.
Adobe Illustrator is a super useful tool for all creatives - designers, calligraphers, artists - you name it. In this 2 hours class, designer Brad Woodward teaches tips, tricks and methods to create your own artwork using Adobe Illustrator. A super useful class if you want to learn AI from scratch.
