If there’s one piece of advice I would give to any new business owner, it is Start an email list today. No matter at what point you are currently at in your business, building an email list can be transformative for its growth. Ever since I wrote this post on how I grew my email list by 3000 in 3 months, I have had several questions on the tools and techniques that I use to grow my email list. So today I want to take you behind the scenes and show you the one tool that has helped grow my email list exponentially - LeadPages.
LeadPages is an amazing tool that takes the guess work out of email list building. It lets you build high converting landing pages for your business which makes collecting leads and generating sales a lot easier. LeadPages has a ton of templates that you can use to build landing pages for various scenarios like : selling info products, hosting webinars, creating thank-you pages and so many others. You can quickly build high converting landing pages using these templates and start collecting leads within no time for your business.
Simplify choice making: Do you know that feeling of overwhelm when you are surrounded by so many choices that you finally leave without making a choice because you are so confused? This is called over choice. When someone comes to your landing page, you don’t want to drive them away by giving them a multitude of buttons and options to choose from. Instead give them a simple clutter-free landing page that helps them make an easy decision of whether they want to sign up or not. This is exactly what LeadPages does. It simplifies the whole signing up process for your audience by minimizing clutter and choice.
Asking vs giving: When someone lands on your opt in page, it can either give them the impression of an asking page or a giving page. The traditional 1 step opt-in where you need to enter your email address in the field to subscribe looks like an asking page, because right away at the beginning it is asking for something from you. Whereas LeadPages uses a 2 step opt-in process which gives an impression of giving something to the reader. Since the opt-in form is not visible until visitors click a button or a link, the 2-step opt-in signals giving when people arrive on the page which results in higher conversions.
Clear call to action: In today's Internet world that is full of distractions, you need to clearly define the action you want your reader to take when they land on your page. LeadPages makes it easy and possible to define clear, concise CTAs that stand out amidst the clutter. Whether it is a download button, link to another page or a prompt to leave a comment - you need to tell your reader what to do next so you don't lose them.
Although LeadPages is primarily used for creating effective landing pages, you can use the platform in a multitude of ways to grow your business. LeadPages offers help in several areas of increasing sales like hosting webinars, creating sales funnels, product launch sequences and many more. Here are some of the ways I use LeadPages to grow my business.
One of my biggest email list building strategies have been using content upgrades and one of the major reasons I invested in LeadPages was to make the whole process of delivering content upgrades easier. I wanted an easy method of delivering my photo packs automatically to the inbox of the person who subscribed to my email list. There are various ways you can set this up, but trust me - they are all ultra time consuming and messy. LeadPages simplifies the whole content upgrade delivery thing and saves you a ton of time and headache.
I use LeadPages to deliver my free photo pack content upgrades automatically and instantly to my subscribers, and the whole process is so easy and fuss free. Also LeadPages makes it convenient to have post specific content upgrades - which means you can have different content upgrades for each post and the subscribers get the respective content upgrade by opting in through a specific post.
LeadBoxes is an amazing feature of LeadPages that helps you easily integrate opt-in boxes to any part your website. You can easily add opt-in boxes to blog posts, sidebar, header bar, footer links - literally anywhere. These LeadBoxes increase opt-ins by forcing the reader to make a decision on the spot of whether to close the pop-up lead box or opt in to the list. See the LeadBox on my website in action right here.
LeadPages helps you dish out beautiful, high converting landing pages for your business in minutes. Like I said, they have several templates which have been tried, tested and optimized for high conversions. You can also build highly customizable sales pages by using their drag and drop page builder. You can customize fonts, colors, elements like buttons and links and do it all easily too.
Here’s a simple sales page I created for my $5.99 photo bundle - it worked really well, brought in a handful of sales while it was active and solidified a product idea that I was thinking of pursuing. Win-Win! And yeah, I put it together in like 10 minutes, literally.
I never knew the power of using thank you pages to increase content reach until I started using them via LeadPages. Imagine this scenario where you are providing a free download filled with value for your reader. Once they opt in to receive the freebie, they will be emailed the content upgrade. But simultaneously you could redirect them to a thank you page that for one, thanks them for downloading the freebie and second, provides easy sharing options to them for sharing your freebie on Twitter and Facebook with their readers. This will totally increase your content outreach and grow your email list rapidly as your content penetrates through the network of your readers, and their readers and so on. Here’s the thank you page I use after someone has downloaded my free photo pack!
I ve always been interested in hosting webinars as a way to share my skills and experiences with my readers on topics that I am passionate about - Photography, Business and Blogging. LeadPages simplifies the technical side of hosting webinars with amazing webinar page templates and integration with Google hangouts and chat boxes. Webinars is something that I plan to start hosting on a regular basis now that I know it is super simple to do so with LeadPages.
There are a lot more things you can do with LeadPages, but I really hope this post gave you a good start on how to use LeadPages to build your business's biggest asset - your email list. Let me know if there is anything specific you'd like to learn about email list building or LeadPages - I am excited to share more.
